The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to celebrate the arrival of fall with the return of the Homestead’s annual Heritage Day event. This living history event features a variety of eighteenth-century demonstrations, trades, and hands-on activities. These include blacksmithing, gunbuilding, leatherworking, hearth cooking, sawmill operation, and much more. The event will also feature a limited number of craft and specialty food vendors as well as fall activities for children.
In the Boone House, volunteers will be cooking a hearty meal over the hearth. Visitors can also tour all the first-floor rooms of the Boone House including the spring cellar and learn about the three families who lived there during the 18th and early-19th centuries. Throughout the historic area, visitors can learn about the detailed work of leatherworking, the hot trade of blacksmithing, and the skillful work of a gun builder. Visitors will have the unique opportunities to tour the three-room Bertolet Log House and see the Bertolet Sawmill in action. Children and adults will be able to participate in various hands-on activities including quill pen writing and eighteenth-century toys and games.
Admission: Adults $10.00, Seniors (65+) $8.00, Youth (6-17) $5.00. Children 5 and under and DBHA members are free. Please no pets and no smoking. The event is sponsored and run by The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates.
